Research:
Dr. Atluri's widely-cited research spans several disciplines and has shed light on the workings of complex biological and mechanical systems. His current projects include an effort to make helicopters safer by developing a mathematical model to pinpoint when rotors and other heavily-used components fail. He also is working with the Federal Aviation Administration to design small, inexpensive sensors to wirelessly match airport passengers to their baggage.
His research interests also encompass meshless methods in computational engineering and sciences, systems engineering in biotechnology, reusable space-launch systems, computational nanoengineering, continuum mechanics, natural philosophy, and multi-scale phenomena in engineering and sciences.
