Dr. Mohamed's current research activities include investigations on superplastic flow, creep behavior of high strength aluminum alloys, metal-matrix composites, ceramics, nanocrystalline materials, and microstructures developed during creep deformation. His most recent published research focuses on creep and superplasticity in nanocrystalline materials, the role of impurities during superplastic deformation and cavitation, dynamic recrystallization, and the role of boundaries during superplastic deformation and cavitation.
Dr. Mohamed teaches courses in mechanics of materials, mechanical behavior and design principles, plasticity, dislocation, theory diffusion and phase transformations. He also serves as director of the interdisciplinary Materials Science Program.
