Dr. Arvo's computer graphics research crosses into multiple disciplines. His work in the area of physics-based image synthesis has led to new techniques in photo-realistic rendering used today in scientific, architectural and even motion picture arenas. His contributions are fundamental to producing quality high-performance rendering algorithms most popularly used by companies like Pixar Animation Studios (creators of Toy Story and Monsters Inc.), a company in which Arvo maintains a consulting contract.
