Research:
Dr. Frostig's main research focus is on how the sensory cortex works, and how it can modify itself (known as plasticity) with changes in the animal's environment, drugs, modification of genes and learning. Our main research tool is a high-resolution optical imaging method known as 'intrinsic signal optical imaging' that enables functional imaging of brain activity with very high spatial and temporal resolutions. In collaboration with researchers in the Beckman Laser Institute, we are currently pursuing the use of other light-based imaging techniques to enhance our research abilities.
