Research:
Dr. Klefstad is interested in real-time distributed object computing, and patterns and frameworks for adaptive middleware.

His research focuses on distributed object computing and high-performance, real-time ORBs; patterns for object-oriented communication systems; object-oriented communication software frameworks; flexible and adaptive distributed, parallel, and concurrent systems; high-performance communication systems and protocols.

Dr. Klefstad also is conducting research into the patterns, implementation, and experimental analysis of object-oriented techniques that facilitate the development of high-performance, real-time distributed object computing frameworks on parallel processing platforms running over high-speed networks. His most recent publications concern the development of middleware for distributed systems and a quality-of-service framework for a distributed video application.

The applications for Dr. Klefstad's work lie in the fields of aerospace, communications, healthcare, and media, among others.
