Research:
Simon Penny is professor of arts and engineering, a joint appointment of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts and The Henry Samueli School of Engineering.
Mr. Penny is an artist, theorist, teacher and curator in the field of Electronic and Interactive Art. His art practice consists of interactive and robotic installations, which have been exhibited in the Americas, Australia and Europe. His essays have been published in seven languages. He edited the anthology Critical Issues in Electronic Media (SUNY Press 1995) and is currently preparing a manuscript for publication with MIT Press.
At UCI, he is establishing an interdisciplinary Research Center and an interdisciplinary graduate program in Arts, Computation and Engineering (ACE). His position as Professor of Arts and Engineering at UCI is a joint appointment between The Henry Samueli School of Engineering and the Claire Trevor School of Arts. He also is Layer Leader for the Arts in the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology and (Cal-IT2).
