The Henry Samueli School of Engineering
The Samueli School's
graduate program is ranked 42nd by U.S. News & World Report,
up from 47th last year. Several of the school’s specialty
areas are ranked in the top 50 as well, including aerospace/aeronautical/astronautical
(31) chemical (50), civil (34), computer engineering (42), electrical/electronic/communications
(46), environmental/environmental health (30), materials (36)
and mechanical (37).
The Samueli School
is home to five members of the elite National Academy of Engineering
and numerous fellows of learned societies.
This school year,
enrollment numbers reached a new high, with nearly 3,000 undergraduates
and more than 600 graduate students choosing the Samueli School.
This year's freshman class numbered 692 students — the largest
incoming class to date.
Research at the Samueli
School is focused on four of the most exciting, emerging areas
in engineering: biomedical engineering, energy/transportation,
information technology and nanoscale/microscale engineering.
The Samueli School
has 95 faculty members in five departments: biomedical engineering,
chemical engineering and materials science, civil and environmental
engineering, electrical engineering and computer science, and
mechanical and aerospace engineering.
The Samueli School’s
anechoic chamber is the largest in the University of California
system, allowing faculty and industry partners to test antennae
arrays ranging from 1.5 GHz to 50 GHz.
