The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California , Irvine is one of the nation’s fastest growing engineering schools, attracting talented engineering faculty and students from across the nation and abroad.  The school is comprised of five departments: biomedical engineering, chemical engineering and materials science, civil and environmental engineering, electrical engineering and computer science, and mechanical and aerospace engineering.

Its mission is to provide outstanding education to graduate and undergraduate students through a combination of classroom learning and laboratory research experience, distinguishing itself through an emphasis on cross-disciplinary research and education. Working in partnership with state and federal agencies and industry, the school facilitates the transfer of research to industry in order to develop applications that benefit society.

Incoming Graduate Student Information

Congratulations on your admission to the Henry Samueli School of Engineering! All newly admitted students will receive a packet along with their admission letter. It will contain information on housing, insurance, orientation, statement of legal residence filing, and other information. In order to confirm your plans to attend UC Irvine, you must fill out a Statement of Intent to Register. This process is managed online.

Graduate Financial Support

Named Fellowships

Henry Samueli Endowed Fellowship - One of the premier awards offered to incoming graduate students in the school. This award is funded by Henry Samueli, co-founder of Broadcom Corporation, after whom the school is named. Fourteen fellowships have been awarded at $25,000 each. The award is open to both terminal MS and Ph.D. students. It is a competitive award, rather than need based, and it is open to all graduate majors within the school. Applicants who would like to be considered for the Samueli Fellowship should indicate their interest in the application for admission. No separate application materials are required.
