The Optoelectronics Packaging and Materials research lab is seeking a highly-motivated, ambitious individual to join our multidisciplinary research team at the University of California, Irvine, as a Specialist. Our laboratory has been at the frontier in the development of the next generation of polymer-based materials for various optoelectronic devices and device packaging and manufacturing applications. The ideal candidate for this position should have a Ph.D. in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering, in areas such as silicone, acrylic, polycarbonate, epoxy polymers and polymer composites targeted for LED, solar cell, LCD display and other optical devices and device manufacturing applications. Experience with polymer chemistry and optically clear polymeric adhesive formulations is essential.
Duties/responsibilities may include: (1) Work in conjunction with faculty mentor who determines the training agenda; (2) Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of a research project; (3) Prepare research proposals; (4) Author, co-author on reports, conference papers and publications; (5) Supervise research assistants and laboratory personnel.
Salary and benefits for this position are competitive and commensurate with qualification of the candidate. This position is available immediately. Initial appointment is one-year with continued appointment contingent upon performance and availability of funding.
