An opening is available for an individual with experience in Electrical Engineering instrumentation and in very high sensitivity mRNA measurements for the full time position of junior specialist within the Department of Electrical Engineering in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. The successful candidate will assist in developing a sensitive measurement system for mRNA detection that will be used to study mRNA expression within living cells. The junior specialist will work in the Bio Nano Technology laboratory of Professor Kumar Wickramasinghe and with Professors in the Development and Cell Biology Department. Experience in methods of biological measurements and preparation is highly desirable. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in an experiment that is on the cutting edge of technology development.
The position requires a B.S or equivalent. Good communication and writing skills are required. The applicant should have broad knowledge (college level) of physics, biochemistry and chemistry and should be familiar with basic computer use.
