The Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine has a need for a temporary lecturer to teach the required lab course Principles of Materials Science and Engineering. The selected candidate will have a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or related field and have demonstrated experience in teaching the material covered in the course outline, including Introduction to Materials Science and Engineering concepts, metallographic preparation for optical microscopy, equipment for mechanical behavior characterization including hardness, tensile tests, and impact testing, composite fabrication, heat treating and phase transformations in metals, and use of x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.  Must be able to set up experiments, create lab instructions, and supervise students in the lab as well as lecturing and grading.
