Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering - Postdoctoral Scholar Position

Salary:  $45,024 - $50,628 determined by qualification
Start Date: January 1, 2010

The Center for Hydrometeorology and Remote Sensing (CHRS) in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine currently offers a postdoctoral scholar position in the area of surface hydrology/stochastic hydrology with some background in remote sensing, data analysis, climatology, and global optimization. The candidate will be responsible for working with faculty on research projects on enhancing California’s decision support system of water resources management.

The successful candidate should meet the following qualifications:
  1. Expertise on statistical hydrology and stochastic modeling of extreme events  
  2. Strong background in surface hydrology and modeling, optimization remote sensing data analysis
  3. Proficiency in computer programming, C or C+, GIS, is required
In addition to the qualifications, the position requires a Ph.D. degree in civil or environmental engineering, Earth sciences or other related quantitative fields.

The initial appointment will be for a one-year period.  Renewal of the appointment will be contingent upon availability of extramural funding and performance.
