Department of Biomedical Engineering - Assistant/Associate Specialist Position
Salary: $38,952 – $58,224

Applications are invited for an assistant or associate specialist, with the Department of Biomedical Engineering in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. We seek a qualified candidate with experience in lab management with broad interest in fluorescence instrumentation. Under the supervision of the Laboratory for Fluorescence Dynamics director and principal investigator, the applicant will manage the optical core facility, will help with user training, will assess laboratory needs for equipment and supplies in advance of experiments, and will maintain the optical equipments of the lab.
The initial appointment will be twelve months. Salary will range from $38,952 to $58,224 per year and will be based on level of experience. Renewal of the appointment will be contingent upon availability of adequate funding and performance. The position requires a BS, MS or equivalent. Good communication and writing skills are required. The applicant should have broad experience (college level) in physics, biochemistry, optics and computer programming. Specific expertise in manipulating biological samples is needed.
