Department of Biomedical Engineering - Assistant/Associate Specialist Position

Salary:  $38,952 - $58,224

The Department of Biomedical Engineering in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for an assistant or associate specialist to coordinate an early phase clinical trial assessing the potential of exhaled nitric oxide to manage asthma in children.  The project is funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health aimed at understanding how nitric oxide in the exhaled breath may assist in the clinical management of asthma.  The position will organize and participate in the data collection on two mobile asthma vans operated by the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). 

The initial appointment will be full-time, for a 12 month period.  The salary range is $38,952 - $58,224 per year, and will be commensurate with experience.  Renewal of the contract will be contingent upon the availability of adequate funding and performance.

A strong background in clinical medicine, clinical trials, and pediatrics or asthma is desirable, as well as good organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills.  The position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field (e.g., nursing, biology).
