MAE Professor Appointed UCI Undergrad Education Associate Dean

Donald DabdubOct.28, 2015 - The UC Irvine Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE) has appointed Donald Dabdub, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, as its second associate dean.

In his 20 years at the Samueli School of Engineering, Dabdub has had a strong affinity for teaching and interacting with undergraduate students. He brings both his experience as a first-generation student and an international student to DUE, and he is dedicated to helping these populations of students thrive. The 50 percent appointment still leaves him time to teach and conduct research in engineering.

Dabdub believes students and faculty could be better informed about opportunities available through the DUE. “I think an associate dean from engineering can be a great bridge to a couple of (DUE) programs,” he say. “One that immediately comes to mind is the Blackstone Launchpad in the Antrepreneur Center.  It is a campus-based entrepreneurship program that would benefit engineering students quite a bit.”

Dabdub’s appointment is effective Nov. 1, 2015.
