Professor Haroun Awarded the 2006 Charles Martin Duke Lifeline Earthquake Engineering Award

earthquake engineering

June 22, 2006 – Medhat A. Haroun, professor emeritus of civil and environmental engineering, has recently been awarded the prestigious 2006 Charles Martin Duke Lifeline Earthquake Engineering Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers.


Haroun was recognized for his "lifelong contributions to the field of Lifeline Earthquake Engineering, especially in the areas of seismic performance of ground-based, elevated, buried and submerged liquid storage tanks, and the seismic response and retrofit of bridges."


This ASCE award is given annually to those who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of Lifeline Earthquake Engineering.
