John Matthew Thomas, a civil and environmental engineering graduate student, recently received an Engineering and Land Surveying Graduate Scholarship for $5,000 from the Consulting Engineering and Land Surveyors of California.
Thomas was one of three graduate students and four undergraduate students from the state to receive this scholarship. Students were selected based on a competitive grade point average, involvement in extracurricular activities, and an essay which demonstrated the understanding of consulting engineers and land surveyors.
He will be honored at an awards ceremony held in
CELSOC, established 50 years ago, is a non-profit association of private consulting engineering and land surveying firms, which works towards “enhancing the consulting engineering and land surveying professions, protecting the general public and promoting use of the private sector in the growth and development of the state.” Members of the CELSOC make projects possible by providing services for all phases of projects.
