This event, hosted and sponsored by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, will give seniors an opportunity to showcase their year-long senior design project to friends, students, alumni and faculty. The project is the culmination of what students have learned throughout their years at The Henry Samueli School of Engineering. From race cars to cement canoes (yes, they do float!), these displays will demonstrate the innovative, creative minds of engineering students. The main focus of the design project is to use classroom theories and apply it to unique inventions. Held the day before commencement, seniors will proudly display their hard work and efforts and leave their mark on UCI before they graduate.

Past projects have included:

  • Formula SAE Vehicle — Miniature formula race car as part of the national SAE design competition [picture 96KB]
  • SAE Mini-Baja — Off-road vehicle as part of the national SAE design competition
  • Robot Arm — Computer-controlled grasping and articulating joint
  • Stair-Climbing Wheelchair — Track-drive wheelchair for going up and down stairs [picture 141KB]
  • Electric GoKart — Conversion of a standard go-kart to electric power
