IMPORTANT POLICIES SURROUNDING THE ABOVE DEADLINES
There are policies surrounding many of the above deadlines and, as such, please be sure to consult the Graduate Student Affairs Office with any questions you have. However, please also be sure to pay close attention to the general guidelines below.
FORMS
All forms referenced above can be found at http://www.grad.uci.edu/forms/
ABSOLUTE FEE PAYMENT AND REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Please note that any student who has not paid fees and enrolled in units by the end of the third week will have his/her student status lapse immediately. If your student status lapses, you will need to apply for readmission (with a readmission fee) in order to continue as a student in the School. Please note that readmission is not automatic and may be denied. Please pay close attention to the procedure at http://www.grad.uci.edu/forms/students/readmission_petition.pdf.
ELECTRONIC DISSERTATION SUBMISSION
You must still be in the area when electronically submitting the dissertation, as you will still need to turn in other hardcopy forms in person to the Graduate Division. (As such, if you will be out of the area, you will need to authorize that a friend turn in these forms for you.)
You can not electronically submit your dissertation one hour before the deadline. Part of the process is that after you submit the dissertation electronically, the Archives sends you an email saying that they received it and it is being processed. You must then take that email with your other required forms (including the PhD II form) to the Graduate Division by the submission deadline. The email can take up to 24 hours to be sent to you, so it is imperative that you submit the dissertation electronically at least a day in advance to meet the deadline.
Please go to http://www.grad.uci.edu/current/thesis_elect_instr.htm to find step by step instructions on how to utilize this new system.
PART-TIME STUDY
If you wish to go part-time (Master’s students only), you must fill out the following required form: http://www.grad.uci.edu/forms/students/part_time.pdf and turn it into your Graduate Coordinator. Part-time students may enroll in 1-8 units. Please note although you may have indicated on your graduate admission application that you plan to enroll part-time, you will not be considered for part-time status unless this form is submitted.
SUMMER DEGREE CONFERRAL
Any student who wishes to graduate at the end of the summer quarter must be an enrolled student. This means that in order to graduate, students MUST either request to be on Filing Fee status for summer OR must enroll in units during one of the summer sessions. Please see http://unex.uci.edu/courses/summer/ for summer enrollment information.
