You may submit your application for graduate study in The Henry Samueli School of Engineering for fall, winter and spring quarter. The application review process normally takes 6-12 weeks, depending on when the application and supplementary documentation are received. Offers of admission and financial support are usually made together, but sometimes separately. Please note, not all admission offers include financial support.
The recommended application deadline for admission into the fall quarter is January 15, especially for candidates who wish to be considered for financial support. However, applications for fall quarter are usually accepted on a rolling basis.
Additional graduate application requirements include transcripts, letters of recommendation, GRE and TOEFL scores, and the application fee. Also, current engineering undergraduate students should explore the possibility of UCI accelerated status.
The Application Process
The first step in your application process is to determine which program and area of interest best suits you. Please visit the department and concentration links below for a starting point. Graduate study at The Henry Samueli School of Engineering is fueled by faculty research. It is research and faculty members' scholarly interests that will influence your graduate career.
Once you determine which program best suits your academic and professional background, please peruse the faculty links and study their various research agendas and referred publications. A significant amount of your graduate school experience may be spent conducting research and serving as a teaching assistant or graduate student researcher. Therefore, it is best to determine if your future research aspirations and professional goals can be supported by our faculty. It is also crucial for faculty to select students who can contribute to their research agendas. Your intended program of study, research interests, and professional aspirations should then drive your application process; there should be evidence of these two items in your statement of purpose. If possible, your letters of recommendation should also include proof of your background and interest in your area of engineering.
